With mental health services in greater demand than ever, The Therapy Company, which operates out of four premises in Lancashire is expanding its mental health team with a new Medical Secretary.
Lisa Jodrell joined the team in August and will initially be operating out of the Preston premises on Garstang Road supporting the Consultant Psychiatrists as well as the psychotherapist team.
Lisa is a Medical Secretary with 22 years’ experience having worked in GP practices, hospitals and clinics in a wide range of specialities including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, rheumatology, urology, cardiology, gynaecology and radiology. Her experience is comprehensive and diverse and she will bring a wealth of experience to the already strong administrative team at The Therapy Company.
It is critical that clients are assessed quickly and the correct therapy is provided so the impact on any individual’s personal and professional life is kept to a minimum, and Lisa will be responsible for ensuring the process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Since lockdown initially eased in June, The Therapy Company has experienced a surge in demand, especially from large local employers such as the NHS who have had staff working under tremendous pressure over the past months.
The increase in demand for mental health services in recent months can be attributed to a number of factors such as:
- Social isolation
- Increased workloads
- Stress of losing employment
- Financial impact
- Reduced access to health services
It’s very important for employers in particular to remember that poor mental health is strongly associated with worsening physical health. Therefore, a failure to value and invest in mental health during the pandemic risks storing up significant mental and physical health problems for the future which could have a huge economic impact on businesses.
