I first experienced Bowen over 10 years ago after suffering a prolapsed disc in my lower back. I had a course of physiotherapy treatment which improved my condition enough for me to return to work. However, I had residual symptoms including leg pain, numbness and pins and needles in my foot, and I was walking with a limp. I wondered whether this would ever go away, and then a friend suggested I try Bowen.
I didn’t know much about it and wasn’t sure what to expect, but I decided it was worth giving a try. It was very gentle, relaxing and very different to physiotherapy; there is no hard tissue manipulation and no deep and prolonged massage. After just three Bowen treatments, I was pain free and could walk normally again. I was so impressed with the technique, I decided to train as a practitioner and in 2012 I qualified as a Bowen Practitioner. I am now a member of the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA), and I hold a current First Aid Certificate and Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Every year I undertake continuous professional development courses to further my knowledge and application of the technique.
I am passionate about Bowen and the benefits it can offer to people and I continue to have regular top up treatments to maintain optimum health.
Why not give Bowen a try, the possibilities are endless….
