World Mental Health Day took place on October 10th 2020.
The goal was to help raise mental health awareness and to consider how each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people living with mental illness can live better lives with dignity.
The Day provided an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
This year has been particularly tough especially for people living with mental illness.
The months of lockdown and loss have had a huge impact on us all, and prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now.
Research demonstrates that nearly 80% of people living with mental illness say that Covid-19 and the national response have made their mental health worse. That is why this year’s World Mental Health Day focussed on how people are overcoming the challenges of lockdown and how, together, we are pushing for a better world, post-pandemic.
Living with a mental health problem can often have an impact on day to day life, making things that others might not think about a bit more difficult. Making positive change can seem so hard and sometimes it can be so hard to know where to start, especially during uncertain times.
