Having trained in mental health nursing in mid 1980s Imelda has worked in a variety of mental health settings including education, voluntary services, acute inpatient and community services and specialist teams such as CAMHS, sexual health and psychosexual services. Imelda has worked in higher education as a senior lecturer over 11 years and developed and delivered a range of mental health and specialist psychotherapy training.

Imelda has completed specialist training and qualifications MA Art Psychotherapy, PGDip Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, PGCE, BA (Hons), PGDip Child and Family Mental Health, Mental Health Nurse, FHEA, EMDR practitioner and is a member of HCPC, BAAT & COSRT.

Imelda has experience of working in a collaborative and compassionate way integrating a range of approaches depending on client needs. As a psychosexual and relationship therapist Imelda utilises a biopsychosocial approach and utilises evidence-based approaches to sexual, sexuality or relationship concerns. Further skills include working with young people and families from a trauma informed and neuro affirming framework.
