What's the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?

How Does It Work?

The Therapy Company can offer counselling in-person at one of our three locations, over the phone, or on a video call. Whatever is most convenient and comfortable for you, we can cater to your direct preferences. All counsellors that work for TTC are professionally trained to the highest standards and act with compassion and understanding at all times.

Within your counselling sessions, you’ll be talking to a trained therapist/counsellor who will help you to find ways to better manage your emotional issues. Counselling can help you deal with bereavement, relationship break-up, work-related stress, and various other types of issues that we encounter as human beings throughout our lives. At your appointments, you’ll be encouraged to communicate your current thoughts and feelings whilst your counsellor works to provide solutions and listens without judgment.

Our Counselling Sessions

When we arrange for your first session, this will be a transition period where we’ll ask you questions about your current set of circumstances and fact-find to help build trust between our counsellor(s) and yourself.

Once we gain a better understanding of the direct concerns and difficulties you’re currently facing, the next 5-8 counselling sessions will be focused around helping you feel more like yourself again. We’ll strategically work through your difficulties by getting you to question the more negative feelings that you’re experiencing. Furthermore, as we go through our sessions, it may become apparent that alternate talking therapies are considered such as CBT.
