Dr Haroon Moosa

Consultant Psychiatrist MB ChB MRCPsych

Dr Haroon Moosa, is Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust. He provides private consultations within The Therapy Company from our Garstang Road premises, Fulwood, Preston.

Having graduated in 1994 from Manchester university, he has been a consultant psychiatrist since 2002. Previous roles have been as Consultant Psychiatrist with Merseycare NHS Trust and Priory Healthcare.

His special interests are treatment resistant mood disorders, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, addiction disorders and stress. He also undertakes specialist work for medico-legal clients and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) clients.

Professor PT Saleem

Consultant Psychiatrist BSc MBBS FRCPsych DPM

Professor Saleem is Consultant Psychiatrist with over 30 years’ experience of adult psychiatry in the NHS and Independent sector. He worked initially as Registrar in Northwest Deanery, then as Senior Registrar in the Yorkshire Deanery. He completed his career in the NHS after working for 28 years as consultant psychiatrist at Royal Blackburn Hospital in July 2011.

He has been in full time private practice since. Dr Saleem now operates private clinics at Beardwood Hospital Blackburn and with The Therapy Company, at our Garstang Road.

His special interests include all aspects of general psychiatry, alcohol addiction and medico legal work covering mental health law, mental capacity law, civil litigation, family law, employment law and criminal matters. 

Dr Shahid Quraishi

Dr Shahid Quraishi graduated from Karachi, Pakistan in 1985 , after completing internship , he was trained in Psychiatry in the Ireland . After completing his basic specialist training , he continued with higher training in Midlands in the United Kingdom.

Later Dr Quraishi worked as associate specialist in transcultural psychiatry  in Coventry Health Care Trust.  In 2001 he moved as a  consultant in the northwest of England in Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust where  initially he served as a sector based consultant psychiatrist. In 2006 with changes in the service structure worked as a consultant in assertive outreach team, crisis resolution  home treatment team and inpatient teams. More recently since October 2020 , he has been working as consultant psychiatrist in rehabilitation and low secure services in Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. He is interested in teaching training and providing skill based training with user of CBT.

His clinical interests  includes assessing and managing complex mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety and stress disorders, substance & alcohol misuse disorders, ADHD . ASD and undertakes medicolegal works related to mental disorders.

Dr Gary Lamph

Dr Gary Lamph is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Gary has over 25 years mental health experience and has been an accredited therapist since 2010. In 2011 Gary was the winner of the prestigious National Nursing Times Award in Mental Health Nursing. Gary’s PhD was funded by the NIHR and complete at the University of Manchester in 2018 and focussed upon understanding long standing emotional difficulties in primary care psychological therapy services. 

He specialises in the treatment of; Depression, Anxiety Disorders (Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Phobias, Agoraphobia & Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), Psychosis, Stress Management (Including life challenges and work-related stress), Low Self Esteem, Perfectionism, Personality Disorder (Complex Emotional Difficulties), Loss and Bereavement, Psycho-social Wellbeing and Change Management (Including diet, addiction and healthier lifestyles).

Dr Jameel Hussain

Dr Hussain is a Consultant in the Psychiatry for Older Adults at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS trust. He provides private consultations within the therapy company from our Garstang Road premises, Fullwood, Preston. 

Having graduated in 1997 from Liverpool University, he has been a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2009. He previously worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Greater Manchester West NHS trust. 

His special interests are all aspects of Psychiatry of Older Adults, Medico-Legal work covering mental health law, mental capacity law, civil litigation, family law, employment law and criminal matters. He also has extensive experience of memory assessments for over 10 years and is currently working as a memory clinic consultant in the NHS and he provides private consultations at The Therapy Company. 

I can see patients both F2F and Video/ telephone.

Dr Natalie Miles

BABCP and BACP

Dr Natalie Miles is a qualified psychotherapist and is accredited with BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists) and BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy).

With over 25 years in the healthcare industry, Dr Miles has a wealth of experience in treating people with mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression, mood disorderand phobias.

She has specialist interest and experience in PTSD, eating disorders and behavioural disorders such as OCD and BDD.

Dr Miles also has  over 10 years’ experience of working as a CBT therapist in Occupational Health for staff within the NHS

Professor Karen Wright

Qualified Psychotherapist BABCP and NMC

PhD, MA, PGDip(CBT), PGCert (PD), PGCE, BSc(Hons), RGN, RMN, RNT,FHEA Member of BABCP.

Professor Karen Wright’s diverse range of clinical experiences span over a period of more than 40 years. She has led and developed services, as well as nursing and psychotherapy curricula. She is a qualified nurse (both Adult and Mental Health registrations), teacher and CBT psychotherapist, and is a member of the British Association of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists  (BABCP). She is a mental health researcher and has published widely in academic journals. She is the lead of author of the core textbook The Essentials of Mental Health Nursing (2018). 

She provides therapy for people with a range of experiences such as eating distress and disorder, body image issues, self-harm, complex emotional needs, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, abuse and anxiety, depression, and bi-polar. 

Karen is known for her authenticity, compassion, and breadth of knowledge. 

Diane Ogden

Qualified Therapist

Diane Ogden is a qualified therapist at The Therapy Company.

Since qualifying as a psychiatric nurse in the late 1980s she has worked in a wide variety of services, including NHS acute mental health services, specialist therapeutic community, sexual abuse/assault service and substance misuse services.

In 2010 she qualified in EMDR (Eye, Movement, Desensitisation & Reprocessing) and became accredited with EMDR UK & Europe in 2013.
She works with clients experiencing all kinds of trauma and/or diagnosed with PTSD and with people who have found other counselling and therapies have not helped them.

Nicole K. McGuinness

Qualified Therapist BABCP

Since qualifying with a certificate in counselling skills in 2012 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Groupwork, Nicole has worked with a variety of services and people through charity organisations,  the NHS and private sector. 

Some of her experience includes treating Depression, Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Addictions, Anger Management, Self-esteem, Phobias, Eating Disorders, Panic, Grief/loss, Low confidence, Health Anxiety, Stress and more recently, Worries about COVID. 

Working virtually, via phone or video call, clients of varying ages receive therapy from Nicole and she is experienced in working with adolescents and adults, adapting to each individuals needs.  Further to her skills, Nicole is a mindfulness practitioner and uses skills to complement her therapy work as well as conducting mindfulness based stress reduction courses virtually.  She continues to further her development, actively working towards accreditation and pursuing further research and study into mindfulness, acceptance and compassion focussed therapeutic interventions.

Carolyn Barker

Katie Robinson

I have experience providing counselling and delivering groups sessions to clients who struggle to manage their anger and offer tools to help them regulate their emotions. I Also work for the NHS Mental health Helpline, offering immediate emotional support to those suffering from a mental health crisis and in some cases, collaborating with emergency services to help the service users get the help they need. I regularly update my subject knowledge by engaging in CPD courses that equip me to aid my clients further.

More recently in 2021, I underwent a working with couples and managing conflict course that now enables me to work with partners who may be experiencing difficulty. I have a great relationship with the teenagers I work with, helping them to identify who they are and explore their difficulties whilst educating them on emotional regulation, is a great way to bring a positive mental health experience to the younger generation. Ruqayyah Kara

Since graduating in 2014 with a degree in clinical counselling and social skills I have worked in various NHS mental health services, including substance misuse services, children and adolescents’ services, inpatient services, community services and forensic services.

I have experience of working as a therapist with children, parents, adolescents, and adults. I have taught on a post-graduate certificate, at Greater Manchester CBT training center, training low intensity therapists with both clinical and theoretical therapy skills.

I have experience in clinically supervising trainee and qualified therapists. I have a specialist interest in Obsessive Compulsion Disorder, social anxiety and depression.

Martin Furber

Clinical Hypnotherapist
 

I am a CNHC Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, practicing Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I also write the mental health and well-being column for The Lancashire Telegraph newspaper.

I began my studies to become a therapist back in 2016 and hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma from the National Council for Hypnotherapy, which is regarded as the gold standard throughout the profession. I also hold a diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy from Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training.

Jonathan Fuller

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Trainee

Jonathan is currently in his second year of study for his Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. He is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with 10 years’ experience working in various mental healthcare settings, including; Acute Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS), and Forensic Services.

More recently, he worked as Lead Nurse at a Specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder Service, and now Lectures in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Central Lancashire.

Jonathan has worked with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, bi-polar, personality disorder, OCD, ASD, and eating disorder. He will be working under the supervision of Professor Karen Wright.

Khaz Valli

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Trainee (student member of BABCP).

Qualifications: Level 2 & 3 Certificates in Counselling, FdSc Person-Centred Counselling, BSc (Hons) Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Approaches, currently studying MSc Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.                                           
Khaz is a bilingual Person-centred therapist (member of BACP).  Khaz  has worked with clients from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities as well as women victims of domestic violence.  Throughout the years, Khaz has gained extensive experience of working with a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, bi-polar and eating disorders.  

Khaz currently volunteers as a school counsellor for children aged between 11-16 suffering from anxiety and depression, helping them to build better coping strategies to manage their difficulties and strive towards living a happier meaningful life.  Khaz is currently training as a Cognitive behavioural psychotherapist to help her to provide practical ways to enable clients to achieve individual empowerment and strive towards positive change in their lives. Khaz Valli will be working under the supervision of Noormohammed Valli.

Mary Ramsey

Qualified BACP Psychotherapist

I am an accredited BACP person-centred psychotherapist with over 10 years’
experience of counselling people in various settings. I have worked for a local
hospice providing pre- and post-bereavement care. I am registered with Bupa.
My usual work is communicating with people from all backgrounds and I have
experience of a broad range of psychological distress including abuse, addiction
anxiety, anger, pre- and post-bereavement, depression, self-confidence,
relationships, stress and mental health issues.

I provide a safe place in a therapeutic environment to help people become more self-aware about how they function emotionally and to allow them to discover what they need to do to change and feel more positive and emotionally regulated. I use my knowledge of various theoretical approaches and strategies to enable the most useful way to work with a person depending upon the particular circumstances as one size does not fit all.
