What Is Hypnotherapy?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a hybrid model based on brief therapy combined with relaxing trance and the use of metaphor and positive suggestions to reinforce the aims of the client. There is no regression to cause, everything is future focused. It is therefore particularly helpful for clients who need to detach the emotion from past memories without actually revisiting the memory.
SFH is also helpful for clients with psychiatric comorbidities as a complementary therapy, getting the client moving, thinking and acting positively and should always be physician-led. Although every client is of course different, typically a course of treatment will be anything from 6 to 12 weekly sessions. Specific fears and phobias are typically 4 -6 sessions.
